Great mountain in NC to enjoy some fun! Only drawback is that it is apparent that the workers are micromanaged. After finding that only the bunny slope and one full run (3 trails) were open, I asked for any discount on lift tickets. They said management wouldn't allow any discount. (I understand that this is early season, but only discount is weekend price equal to weekday. So weekday is the same as mid-season with full run availability.) After that, when embarking on the lifts, the attendant had to scan the badge EVERY time. This is understandable sometimes, to ensure only paying customers boarding. However, after going down the bunny slope >30 times training my beginner friends, this gets outrageous. The attendants would even comment on it. "Sorry, but I have to do it ever time". In conclusion, mid-season is a good bet and you will have fun. I would suggest avoiding this ski resort pre and post season.
Best in the South! Great place for beginners to advanced skiers. The new high speed quad chair on Easy Street vastly improves the experience. The slope was obviously widened and the "steep" Fanny hill part has been regraded for a consistently gentle slope. A joy for new skiers. Great snowmaking and grooming! They take pride in providing the very best conditions. A good variety of slopes for all levels. Lift operators always professional and helpful. Every year it gets better. Happy 50th birthday Sugar!
Always have a great time when we visit Sugar Mountain!!! The staff is usually nice. I will say the food is sub par, but what can you expect from a ski resort.
BEAUTIFUL place to go. This was my first time seeing snow, so it was a lovely experience
Went skiing here for the first time and it was okay. Very Icy with random patches if thick wet snow. They also had ALL of their snow blowers going for the whole day which made skiing not only annoying, but slightly painful as well. All in all, we had an okay time. Don't know if we will be back.
