Opened a new bank account last year, apparently it had the overdraft service enabled. Also apparently, despite having multiple contact pathways for me and sending me occasional ads it's not worth notifying you when your account has fallen into overdraft, that's cool and everything because then the bank makes $500 off you without you knowing until it's too late. Upon visiting this branch and bringing forward the issue with a request to remove most of the overdraft charges (I understand I should be billed for the initial one, maybe even a couple more) I was told 2 of the 15 charges would be removed. Had I received ANY notification I would have been fine accepting responsibility. But to just covertly siphon away so much of my money feels just as dark as other activities that are illegal. I am disappointed. I am still leaving 3 stars instead of one however; because I am not aware as to what limitations the officers of this branch are bound and perhaps they would have dealt justly should they have actually had the ability. As for the company as a whole, this was wrong, made only more annoying that many of these purchases were small to care for my at the time sick family. Frosty $26. Candy Bar $26. Cough Drops $31.

I have never in my life dealt with a more awful bank who treats you like a number instead of a person. I applied for a consolidation loan today because I’m currently paying $1000 a month for a loan with an incredibly high interest rate. Looking for relief, I turned to the bank that I’ve been a member of since 2006. My credit is good, however they were unable to approve me because it’s showing I’m overextended in my obligations....... THEY WONT ACCEPT MY TRUST FUND MONEY AS A FORM OF INCOME NOR WILL THEY ACCEPT MY HUSBANDS INCOME. THEY ONLY ACCEPTED MY INCOME FROM WORK. How do you think I’m paying my bills!? Like if I’ve never in my life missed a payment, currently able to afford $1000 on my current loan, what makes you think I wouldn’t be able to pay a lower amount? I had two people today who called to discuss my adverse action who were so incredibly rude, offered no compassion, and refused to go in to detail. I give this bank close to $10000 a month in income, I have two cars that I’ve paid in full with them, and I’ve paid my credit in full every month with them... PLUS I’ve been with them for close to 15 years..... and they just lost a customer for life. Awful way to treat people!!!!! Especially good a great one who always pays her bills on time!!!

It's very disappointed in how much American First Cresit Union has change. They have forgotten people is what made them a bigger bank. I understand that being conservative within their approval of thier loans is key to maintain healthy debt. However, when an individual has credit score over 700, income to support ones obligation and been a member over 15 years and being declined for a loan to pay off an existing loan does not make sense. Where is the trust? Where is the return in loyalty? I plan to make it appoint to share this with all of my friends and family. Because friends and family don't turn your bank on you. I will move my loyalty somewhere...
