A friend of mine a young girl. Recently received a check from Huntington bank. For a supposed refund for an error that was made to there account to there account. The check came in a Huntington envelope with the check.they took the check to check smart and Matt called huntington bank to verify it was legitimate. He said he talked to numerous people at the corporate office and provided the routing number and check number. Which someone at the bank verified it was the banks check. Of course, Matt did not get the name of the Huntington bank employee that verified the check was real. Well low and behold, they sent the check to Huntington bank for process and it was not a legitimate check. Now this young person was required to return the money to check smart, the check was a scam, and these incompetent employees of checksmart, who this young person trusted that they new what they were doing and as you can see,they are the same level as the scammers, they assured her the check was real. Then threatened to call the police if it wasn't paid back within the next 5 days. The scammers are out there and the checksmart businesses are just as bad. A study was done and their interest rate on your loans are 300 to 400 percent. It is bad enough to be scammed but checksmart verified it was real and they can't even tell a real check from a fraudulent one. Do not ever go to any of these businesses and certainly not the portage st one. Total idiots.
