Village Bank's Reviews
Will be closing both accounts at this bank. Deposited cash into the ATM on Saturday and was not able to even use it for three days! I didn't even show as a pending transaction until the end of the business day on Monday. Showed up in my account on Tuesday. Cannot use the app for my account and the joint account with the wife, because they are two different accounts! Have had good customer service at the St. Francis branch. But not well enough to keep these accounts. Run away as fast as you can!
Village bank will steal your money. If you go into overdraft they will not tell you and let you rack up hundreds of dollars in fees, and will refuse to cancel the fees. This is the worst bank ever, don't bank with them if you value your money
went to cancel my account, because i had insufficient funds, and they nsf'ed me. understandable. So i went to pay the fees with cash and said i was cancelling this account. They said it will no longer be active. A month later i went into the app, and boom: 170$ of nsf fees. I and plenty other people i know do not recommend banking here. Please bank somewhere else, this cancer bank isn't worth your time.
When you call it says you reached them outside of business hours, but it says open on their website according to the hours posted. they have made an error almost every time we have had to have something notarized. They couldn't tell me which account was my personal or which was my business by the debit cards they issued me.
I am considering moving to a new bank, or a credit union. They transferred $1300 without my permission, or the permission of my account co-holder and I still haven't heard back from them regarding the issue. All they told me is that they cannot transfer money without being authorized by me or the co-holder, but that doesn't help much because a mugger technically can't take my money without my permission because it is against the law, but it could still happen. The funny thing is, right after they told me this, they mistakenly transferred ~$150 to my sister's account, despite the fact that I didn't approve it. But they corrected it when we called later, to be fair. It's almost as if banks DO make mistakes, and it is a common occurrence at this one. Another issue is that they won't let me transfer money over the phone, online, or in app, and I was initially told it'd be only for a year, but now I am told it is indefinitely. EDIT: I should note that it is only one banker who tells me this, Cathy I believe. All the others are much more friendly and let me do phone transfers no problem. Go find another bank, this one isn't worth it.
