Wells Fargo Bank in Marion, South Carolina

I went to this branch to cash a check. I don't have an account with this bank but the check issuer did. I waited in line for the next teller. I got the first teller to the far left. I presented the check and she asked if i had an account with WF, and i said no. She said nothing else and just began counting money behind the counter, not in front of me like is commonly done. She shoves the money into an envelope and hands me a receipt and says thank you. I was in a bit of a hurry so i left quickly. After i left, i took the money out of the envelope and counted it. I found that $7.50 was missing. I looked at the receipt and saw where i was charged a fee for cashing the check without an account. The teller never mentioned the fee and never asked my preference in bills. She probably thought i would have said no if she told me about the fee. She did all of this purposefully. I called back to speak to a manager but none was there at the time so i spoke with another teller who asked the teller in question about the incident to which she offered up a bogus apology. This was a dishonest practice done on purpose. Very bad look for the bank. Yes, i should have counted it while i was there...my mistake there, but no excuse for dishonesty.

Though this is not my personal bank, my mom has a long-time account here. I've had nothing but good experiences when I had to handle my mom's affairs, especially when she had heart surgery and I had to do a few transactions for her. I gave them my Power of Attorney and everything was handled smoothly... so smoothly that when I walked in the tellers knew the situation and were very friendly and sympathetic. The branch manager was amazing and even stood in line for me to get a deposit done! She told me to wait in her office while she handled the teller transaction.

It's all ways a bad experience going to this branch, largely due to the branch manager. I have rarely seen such incompetence in a person on her level. She is arrogant, condescending, rude and disrespectful to the public at large. She can be observed bullying the other ladies that work there. The only saving grace at that branch is the banker there named Kelvin. He is respectfully, kind, understanding and patient. He will listen to your problem and work hard on getting you the best outcome possible. He is everything right in customer service, and she is everything wrong.

We have had nothing but "wonderful service" from all the folks at this branch. Been banking with them for a long time.

Always busy but the tellers are polite and helpful!
