Actual rates vs advertised rates. I final rate was raised considerably more than my pre-approval rate. By the time they changed the rate it was too late for me to switch to another bank. When I asked them about why the rate changed I was ignored, no response at all. Customer service response... Do not expect any response to emails. If you really want answers you will need to call several times.
After 25 years of banking, I'm out. I just can't anymore. Despite calling and emailing my travel dates, the managers never updated my travel dates which left me overseas with no debit cardon a Saturday afternoon. Monday morning at 9, after sitting on hold internationally for 20 minutes, I was told it was my fault. Really?? Calling and emailing is not enough?? Back in the US, debit card still won't work!! Calling doesn't help. You just get blamed for not knowing your own PIN #! Really?!? Done. After my direct deposit hits, I'm gone!! Save yourself a headache and find a better bank!!
First Atlantic FCU made getting an auto loan easy for me, after a local bank turned me down, despite excellent credit history. I had to let go of my '02 Prius after 15 years of service (and lots of servicing!). I found another used car, a 2017, but needed to Finance it. I opened a membership with First Atlantic and applied for the loan. The loan officer was extremely knowledgable and patient with my lack of computer skills. customer service is so painful, it violates the Geneva Convention. if you're thinking of loaning through them, don't do it. You don't have to take my advice, look them up on the better business bureau. their score is D- with a note that they don't even acknowledge complaints. that should say it all, but i'll elaborate on my own painful experience. i'm trying to close on the sale of my own home, and FAFCU mis-handling it to an epic extent. their records keep showing that i am not a party to the sale of my own house so they refuse to discuss the sale of my house with me to protect the privacy of the homeowner. When I point out how this makes zero sense, they are unable to intelligently explain why but also refuse to change their stance. If the CIA ever needs to extract information from Al-qaeda operatives, don't bother with water-boarding them, just instruct them to get a definitive answer to a sample question from an FAFCU customer service rep. They will crack in no time.
We have been customers for over 25 years. We have had our Mortgage, car loans, and a few personal loans and lines of credit through this institution and have been treated with the utmost respect. The entire staff from the Tellers to the bank officers, especially Patty at the Toms River branch have always gone out of their way to help us when any problematic issues have occurred and corrected them in a timely efficient manner.
