Money Tree is essentially a broker and middle man. They do not stand by any of the products they offer. For example: Money Orders. They offer Western Union Money Orders...but fail to tell you that they expire...that little piece of information that should be 'up front'. If you have any problems Money Tree will NOT help you...they will hand you off to Western Union to deal with and that can take 30 - 45 days to get any resolution. Money Tree feigns no responsibility...yet they sure collect what are seemingly high fees. My daughter who is a 17 year old first time college student went in to cash her scholarship check. Starting college students NEED every penny to survive and stay in college. If Money Tree would have charged $10, $15, or even $20 fee to cash her check, that would not harm. But Money Tree wanted $52 dollars from a 17 year old girl starting off in college. That was harm! I was stunned that they thought nothing of taking $52 dollars just for cashing a Federal check...a guaranteed check. This is a horrible harmful message to force on young people and my daughter will never ever again give Money Tree her business and it embarrassed and humiliated me because I brought her in there! I've gone to Money Tree since the day it opened...and now I do minimal transactions there only. The greed factor is abusive and it is a shame that they will take your money, but will not stand behind what they offer. If you have a problem..it IS YOUR problem and they wash their hands of any responsibility to you their customer. Initially a good idea that has been overcome by greed. Very sad, very sad...
I just had the most awful experience of my life while trying to western union money to a really good friend of mine in Mexico!! The teller was rude and she kept asking me a bunch of on needed questions that I’ve never had to answer before. I kindly explained to her what I was doing and was I sending money but it still was none of her business and then she said she had asked me these questions and at the end of the conversation she said she didn’t feel comfortable so she’s going to have to decline and I won’t be able to send my money!!! I am extremely upset!!!I’m going to make a yelp account just so that I can air out my frustration I’m also going to call and speak to her supervisor!!!
