Went here for lunch and some of the smoked whitefish chowder. They were out of the chowder when we arrived at 11:30. We wanted to order something else, but there was no menu, even though there is supposedly salads and burgers. We ended up just ordering coffee and a coffee cake and walked down the street for lunch. Others came in behind us at 12:30 and we're turned away because they stop serving lunch at 12:30. I'm sure the food is good, but arrive for lunch well before lunch time
Food is good; staff acts annoyed that you're there. Too bad that they seem to bank on the fact that there aren't that many other options on the island and therefore can be rude.
I cannot reasonably review the food and beverages, but they need to work on customer relations. After standing in line to order for 15 minutes, when I arrived at the front, I was informed that they were closing, starting with me. I think they could have handled that better. Perhaps with a captive clientele on the island, they do not feel people will go elsewhere.
We had the daily soup today...a smoked whitefish chowder. Probably one of the best soups we've ever had anywhere. Lots of fish and beautiful veggies and herbs topped with pieces of extra smoked fish. The base stock has no loss of beautiful cream. WOW.
Reading some of the other reviews leaves me confused because this is literally the best breakfast I have ever had. My group shared the waffles, eggs benny, tartine and the abc toast. Everything was superb! I LOVE this place and wish I could take it back to Milwaukee with us.
