Covington Credit's Reviews
Rude manager when behind even by a few weeks. They tend to get real pushy over missed payments even when it’s not deliberate. They agree to wait the first time, but life does happen and if it goes to a couple of weeks past due they don’t care your situation life or death they will be pushy and threaten you with further actions. I don’t recommend these guys. I rather world finance. Much nicer people and more understanding.
First off, this place is great at getting you a decent loan when you're in a jam. It was very simple and quick. Also, the ladies in the office are always friendly and great to deal with. The unfortunate thing though is like most loans the interest rates are high.
I'll start my review by saying. I have decent credit sitting between 700 and 720, not perfect but its decent considering I've never bought a house, a car, nor do I owe student loans.. I've been approved for $1500 unsecured loans in the past, and have paid them perfectly. I applied with Covington on a Friday morning and was approved over the phone for a measly $510, which was okay with me because I only wanted it to build better credit with a larger history before attempting a mortgage in the future. They seemed very skeptical of my legal name change over the phone. I went to the office Monday morning because they asked for a ridiculous amount of paperwork, which i thought was odd... I had to gather it up and wasnt able to do so before closing Friday. I was asked to bring: 2 years of tax statements, my official name change document, ID, SS card, current bank statements, 2 pieces of current mail, my passport & 2 current Bills, Once arriving to the office Monday, they began to look over my checking account via online banking for deposits, which I happily obliged to, but she wasn't satisfied with April deposits and was asking to see a 90 day history. I was asked for invoices from jobs I've done throughout the past 90 days as well as a third piece of mail and asked if they could call my husband who was working inside a hospital at that time meaning no signal. I had over 17 times the loan amount in my checking account at that moment, which the lady obviously saw when looking over account details. After being scrutinized so much it became clear to me they were not interested in financing a loan to me, rather they wanted to prove to theirselves I was a fraud and I was using a fake name. She commented how 'maybe it was a sisters or cousins name to take out loans' The lady who took care of me was kind, and she was just following her managers cues. Luckily, I wasnt in dire financial straights, and the loan wasnt "needed" per-say, just decided to open a line since I currently have no open loans or etc, however i will not use them, nor refer them to friends or family in the future. After leaving Covington credit, and refusing to continue with the loan process, I called Service loans in Antioch and was approved over the phone for $1380. I arrived and recieved my check within 10 minutes, was asked for ID, SS, 3 references and tax documents. They were very kind and very quick! Within an hour, the $1380 check was deposited into my savings account. I'd refer my friends and family to Service loans in Antioch instead.
it's a finance company. I am sure they deal with people that lie all the time so I am not put off by the bombast. I couldn't pay for the first two months. I had had money all my life and the trust was stopped for a time. I had no idea what to do but my income and phone where gone for several months. A girls came to see me of course a collections call and was very nice. No big deal, I took the check and wasn't able to be contacted so I understood their concern. I couldn't pay when they asked after I did contact them but just a few days latter....the first check is going out today in fact. I hope it runs smoothly from here on out. I understand how hard their jobs are. They are not fun of course they are going to be a little pushy. Without money you don't have anything. I took it for granted all my life.
All was fine until tonight. I've been Ill and been unable to make a payment. Explained my situation and the bitchy manager thought I had an attitude. Claimed she was teying to help. Me??? How??? Not the case. I WILL NEVER deal with these people again. And to everyone else, don't waste your time.
