OneMain Financial's Reviews
If I could give them zero stars I would. I, as most probably do, came there for assistance. The manager of the branch that relocated was so sweet and through with me. I felt happy to do business with professional, well-informed lenders. Then, after paying my account on time for over a year, I called in to inform them that a hardship had came up so I’d needed to adjust the date for the next payment. The original woman immediately transferred me over to the manager who was SO rude to me. I mentioned to her that she, in fact, didn’t have to act that way. That I was calling them and not the other way around. Also, that I’ve paid on time for over a year and truly expected more professional behavior. All she was concerned about was when I could pay and was pressed to educate me about how this negatively impacts my account. The conversation was so tense and with the hardship I had no space to meet her anger. Truly uncalled for, especially for a consistent client like myself. I mean, I paid on time for over a year and... I can only imagine how they treat other customers in different situations on a daily basis. Listen. I don’t know who’s reading this but learn from me. Borrow money from family, friends, or any organization you are affiliated with on a constant basis. Try removing lenders who prey on others by maximizing interest rates in their favor from your life. Financial problems come and go, companies such as One Main feed off our hardships for there own gain. And, honestly, I empathize with the employees. Their job seems to suck. Okay. Back to my point: this company clearly grooms their employees to treat customers amazingly in order to sign a contract, only to reveal that you’re just a number afterwards. Save yourself the trouble.
Christie and the staff there are awesome!!! Super friendly and extremely helpful!!!
I responded to a "check your loan rate with no impact to your credit" offer on a website late one night, and the next thing I know, I have multiple offices calling me with offers. It was the worst possible week for me to add another errand to my list. Remember - I didn't know this was going to happen. Thought I'd just get a grid of offers and interest rates. Got a voicemail from THIS OFFICE after a week, telling me that they were going to close my loan application if I didn't get them the paperwork they needed. I called them back to tell them I would work on it in the next few days, and whoever I got on the phone was just plain rude. She told me, WITH a BIG attitude, "We can't just keep your application open." Well excuse me, but I never said I was ready to pursue the loan in the first place. I was just trying to check my rates, which they couldn't actually give me until I gave them this paperwork they were asking for. I told her to just go ahead and close it, and I'd go elsewhere. Which I did. (Two other companies didn't have any problem working with my timeline.) Don't they work on commission or something? And shouldn't they have known that it was an internet lead? Use as last resort only.
Greta is quite rude if you fall behind. I explained my situation multiple times and still she threatened me, called me at work, threatened some more, made me feel even worse about my horrible situation than I already felt, like I don't know how bad things are and acting like I took out the loan with no intention of repaying it. She had no business talking to me the way she was, especially when she called me on my work phone KNOWING I couldn't talk to her, just PUSHING to hurt this bipolar woman with severe anxiety. They don't care about people, they only care about getting their money!
They really aren't in the business of helping people.
