I have been with this bank my entire life. Never had a problem before. Ever since the new female manger has arrived I have had nothing but problems with this place. Absolutely horrendous customer service since the new female manager was hired! Our entire family closed all their accounts and we will be going to any other bank but this one! If you are looking for a decent place to do your banking with, this is DEFINITELY NOT the place to go!! Unhelpful, rude staff managed by an extreamly unprofessional manger who really needs to check her attitude!

I have banked at People's for as long as I can remember - a long time. I primarily banked at the Woodbridge CT office and was pleased with their service and smarts. I switched to the Hamden CT branch, Dixwell Hamden Mart. I am not happy with this branch. Starting with the outside: the handicapped parking spaces are close to the building on the left. The sidewalk inclines but there is a shrub to the left that while trimmed has one side over the path to the front door. Anyone in a wheel chair would not be able to negotiate entrance. The entrance door is extremely heavy and difficult to open. Anyone with a handicap would have trouble. There is no bell to ring to get someone to open the door if there were no other customers entering to help. When I asked staff about this they said they "watched" the door and could come to someone's aid. I have seen staff in the lobby area not watch the door but go about other business. Inside: there is always a person standing in the lobby as one enters apparently to sometimes ask what kind of transaction the customer would like to make. So there you are explaining your personal financial business with other customers passing by or working at one of the two small nearby wall desks. Sometimes when the line for service is long, that "lobby" person or someone in management will walk over to people in line to ask each what type of transaction they need make. There you are with a person inches away from you in front and back telling this staffer what your financial transaction is. PRIVACY? No! The purpose is to determine if the customer transaction can be helped by staff at the far right of the lobby and reduce wait in line time. Good. Not good, your neighbor in line hears your business. The tellers' skills and procedures are inconsistent. For example, if one is cashing a check the teller will sometimes count the money in front of them and then hand it to you; sometimes they count the money in front of themselves and recount while placing the bills closer to you; sometimes the customer has to ask that the bills be put in the 'money counter' to confirm that the amount is correct. Some tellers speak in such a soft voice that they are inaudible. I've noticed Seniors are always asking them to speak louder. There seems to be a lot of teller turnover. Often there is non-business chit chat between teller and customer when there are many people waiting in line. Several years ago I needed some information of importance and spoke to the branch manager, Marian. She provided information. Within a week or two I went to the Woodbridge branch and asked the same question of the Branch Manager, Scott Zimmerman, and got a completely different answer. He was very diplomatic when I asked why the difference. My experience with staff at the Woodbridge branchf has always been excellent. You might consider using the Stop & Shop branch for basic banking. Their hours are very consumer friendly and include Sunday.

Do not do business with this Branch, David that works here I over heard him speaking to the woman tellers that work here and he was degrading them and speaking down to them. He should be reported to corporate office. It looks like everyone here is scared of him.
